Progressive Salem Endorses Three Salem City Council Candidates in 2018

The Progressive Salem Board recently voted to endorse three candidates for seats on the Salem City Council in the May 15, 2018 Primary election. In Ward 2, south central Salem, Progressive Salem endorses Tom Andersen who will be seeking his second term on the Council. In Ward 6, Progressive Salem endorses Chris Hoy who was elected to the Council in a special election last March to complete the term of Daniel Benjamin, who resigned from the Council. Chris now will run for a full term representing northeast Salem. In Ward 8, which covers most of West Salem, Progressive Salem endorses Micki Varney who is expected to face incumbent Councilor Jim Lewis. “Progressive Salem is thrilled to endorse three strong candidates who share our values and aspirations for Salem,” said Progressive Salem Chair Tina Calos. “All three are smart, hard-working, and devoted to serving their constituents. We pledge to work tirelessly between now and May to elect them all.”
